Renewals in August 2023

Please note – This guidance is for people who were members BEFORE 31 March 2023.

New members who joined after March 2023 have 12 months membership from their date of joining the Society.

Life Members and Collaborating Institutions do not need to renew membership.

Memberships created under our old system run from 1 August through to 31 July of the following year, so they expire at midnight on 31 July 2023. This page takes you through the process of membership renewal. From a Society perspective, the easiest renewal method for us to process is an online payment through our website using Paypal, which also accepts credit cards. In this case, everything is automated and that one action documents it for both the member and the Society.

If you are paying Online…

Make sure that you are logged in to the site.  If you are having problems with logging in, have a look at https://hdfhs.org.uk/problems-with-logging-in/

Choose one of the options below, be it Electronic, Individual, Family or Overseas and click the button at the bottom of the membership category box. That will bring up a page with your personal details – please check them and make amendments as necessary. The Society encourages the use of Gift Aid, where possible and applicable, because it raises additional funds for us. After checking your details, press “Sign up” and you will be taken to the Payment page, either by Paypal OR credit/debit card. Thank you for your support

PLEASE NOTE – we appear to be having intermittent problems with credit card payments through PayPal. We are working on a solution and hope to have it in place later this week.

If you do not wish to pay Online…

If you cannot or do not wish to pay your renewal online, it is not a problem. Nobody will be forced down any particular path and we are grateful for all the support that our members give.  Renewals are possible at the Root Cellar: by cash, cheque or credit card. Cheques can be sent to the Root Cellar, please put your membership number on the back of the cheque. A BACS bank transfer is available, use the contact button below and select Secretary to ask for our bank details.

The method that we would like to move away from, because of the extra load it puts on our volunteers, is the Standing Order. However, if that is the only way you can or wish to use, then please go ahead. In such cases we would appreciate your informing the Membership Secretary, using the contact button below, so that we can watch for the payment on our bank statement.

Many, many thanks for your consideration and your ongoing support.
