A Huddersfield Miscellany by George Redmonds

£9.75

Acknowledged widely as the world's leading authority on surnames, George was local to our area.  In the course of researching archives for over 50 years, he amassed a huge amount of information on other topics, such as place-names and words.  He died in 2018, leaving much of his work unpublished.

This book is a collection of articles relating to the local history of Huddersfield and the region.  In some cases he didn't complete writing the article so his wife, Ann-marie, and David Shore have included references from his card index system, which he prepared before composing a piece, not just because they are interesting in their own right, but so that future historians can continue the work.

(This information is part of the foreword to the book).
